W
omen are said to hold half of the
world. Nevertheless, the five women
featured in ReviewAsia’s fashion pic-
torial this month are definitely hold-
ing much more than their fair share.
Modern, liberated, balanced – call them what you will,
but there’s no doubting that these five have found that
elusive formula for managing their careers while having
enriching and nurturing lives. Like the artwork featured
in this photo shoot, our subjects have turned themselves
into masterpieces of modern womanhood.
Frederique Deleage is the director and founder of the
Paua Group, the largest spa operator and consultancy
in Hong Kong. A 40-year career in the beauty field has
made her one of the leading spa and beauty experts
in Asia. She was the recipient of Hong Kong’s 1996
Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
She is now based on Koh Samui, Thailand, from where
she conducts her consulting business.
Lynn Grebstad is a director of Grebstad Hicks
Communications, a marketing and PR consultancy for
luxury hotels, resorts and other choice clients. Following a
hotel and airline career in the UK, Grebstad moved in 1982
to Hong Kong, where she worked for The Peninsula Hong
Kong, The Regent and then again with The Hongkong
and Shanghai Hotels, owner of The Peninsula Group.
Shirley Hiranand was born and raised in Manila and
moved to Hong Kong after her marriage. In February
2005, after raising her five children, Hiranand decided
to embark on a career in PR, and together with her sister,
Reyna Harilela, created Bonvivant & Bellavita, a pre-
mium PR and events management company. They have
worked with luxury brands such as Fendi, Roger Vivier,
Veuve Clicquot and Swarovski.
Emma Sherrard is the Asia-Pacific managing director
for Quintessentially, the lifestyle and concierge service
company. She has traveled and worked all over the world
and loves experiencing different cultures. Sherrard is an
avid water sports enthusiast and competes in adventure
race challenges. She enjoys the arts and the bright lights
of Hong Kong’s nightlife.
Catherine Scown is the director of marketing for Four
Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. She has more than two dec-
ades of experience in the hotels industry, stretching from
Chicago and San Francisco to Ho Chi Minh City. She
serves as vice-president and a member of the board of
governors of the American Chamber of Commerce of
Hong Kong. Scown and her husband, Michael, have two
young children, Catherine and William.
